Headline Formula 1: Verb + Benefit

The most reliable headline formula starts with an action verb and ends with the user benefit. This format is direct, clear, and scannable.

Examples: "Track your spending effortlessly" / "Organize your life in seconds" / "Edit photos like a pro" / "Learn any language faster" / "Sleep better tonight" / "Cook healthier meals" / "Build better habits."

Keep it to 5-7 words maximum. Every word must earn its place. Remove adjectives that don't add meaning — "easily" and "quickly" are often filler.

Headline Formula 2: [Number] + Noun

Numbers create specificity and credibility. They also stand out visually in a sea of text.

Examples: "5,000+ recipes at your fingertips" / "30-day fitness transformation" / "100+ meditation sessions" / "Track 3 habits in 10 seconds" / "Join 2M+ users worldwide."

Use real numbers from your app. Don't round up or exaggerate — "4,847 recipes" is more credible than "5,000+ recipes" because it feels precise. For downloads or users, rounding is fine.

Headline Formula 3: Question Hook

Questions engage users by making them think. The best questions target a pain point the user already feels.

Examples: "Tired of forgetting passwords?" / "What did you spend last month?" / "Ready to finally get fit?" / "Know what's in your food?" / "Can't sleep?" / "Where did your money go?"

The answer to the question should be obvious from the screenshot below the headline. Don't ask a question and leave it unanswered — the screenshot should show your app solving that exact problem.

Text Formatting Best Practices

Font size: Your headline should be readable at thumbnail size. Test by viewing your screenshot at 200px wide — if you can still read the text, it's large enough. Aim for 48-72pt depending on word count.

Font weight: Use bold (700+) for headlines and regular (400) for subtext. Never use light or thin weights in screenshots — they disappear at small sizes.

Contrast: White text on dark backgrounds or dark text on light backgrounds. Avoid placing text over busy parts of your app screenshot. Use a semi-transparent overlay if needed.
